Earlier voice guidance was available in Hindi and Indian accent English. This facility will be available in all models above nüvi 1000 series PNDs including Garmin nüvi 40 LM, Garmin nüvi 50 LM, Garmin nüvi 2465 LM and Garmin nüvi 2565 LM. “It has been done keeping in mind the growing Indian market for the Garmin devices. We firmly believe that devices should be made to assist the people and what better way than to communicate in their own language and accent,” said Tony An, Garmin Asia Marketing Director. “Users will feel more confident being navigated in their own language. Garmin is trying to offer an easier solution to direct you to the final destination,” he adds.

Traditional navigation devices make it difficult to understand the street name or area because of in-built American accent, Garmin self-developed technology and was the first to implement Indian accent into devices. The Bosch GSL 2 can scan the entire floor within minutes and will never miss an uneven spot. A target plate and RC 2 remote control with a working range of 60 feet allow users to remain close to the uneven spots for marking and examination, rather than having to stay near the tool to operate.

Flooring inspectors, screed workers, tillers and various trades people who lay out flooring can determine even surfaces, raised bumps or recesses in the floor with the GSL 2 at a more efficient rate than spirit levels, optical levels, and rotary and line lasers. The GSL 2 can be used with the four included AA 1.5V alkaline batteries or with the Bosch 12V Li-Ion battery pack (not included) for up to 15 hours of operating time, adding the convenience of a dual power source to the user experience.

With accuracy of 1/8 inch at 30 feet, the GSL 2 offers line visibility of 30 feet, increasing to 60 feet when used with the target plate. The tool self-levels in five seconds within a leveling range of ± 4 degrees.

Using the GSL 2 to check floor level and flatness is a simple and fast three-step process:

Step One:

• Place the GSL 2 at the floor’s benchmark, the level at which the entire floor should match
• Turn on the laser using the sliding on-off switch located on the side of the tool
• Adjust the height of the GSL 2 until its two laser lines come together as one on the floor
• Set the laser using the knob

Step Two:

• Use the RC 2 remote control to scan the floor surface, making sure to face the GSL 2 as it isoperating. The remote control has 3 different speeds and has the ability to go backto the desired spot both in clockwise & anti clockwise direction.
• Begin observing the lines on the floor surface

Step Three:

• Watch as the lines separate at points along the floor, indicating a bump or recess
• Use the provided easy-to-read target plate to determine the height of deviation at the uneven spot
• Mark the uneven spot where necessary for re-work

Equipped with a five point laser and a cross line laser in one tool, the GCL 25 saves time, money and space by removing the need for users to purchase and set up two lasers on the jobsite. The tool’s simple one-button operation can be used to quickly switch between its multiple self-leveling modes and its slope mode, making it a laser that increases productivity on the job-site.

The tool’s five laser points are visible up to 100 feet and offer accuracy of ¼ inch for points and 1/8 inch for cross-line, with laser line visibility of up to 33 feet. A keypad can be used for simple line and point selection including self-leveling, plumb up and down, horizontal leveling, alignment, right angle setting and laser cross-line. The cross lines add value to a typical point laser as it is able to provide alignment applications such as measuring off the level line.

In self-leveling mode, the GCL 25 offers a leveling range of 4 degrees and alerts users with flashing lines when there is an out-of-level measure of greater than 4 degrees. An on-off sliding button provides a pendulum lock function for protection during transport, while sturdy product design keeps the tool fully protected against dust and splash water.

Innovative features make the GCL 25 ideal for a multitude of leveling, squaring, transfer and plumbing applications such as:

As-built measurement was never easier when using the Leica 3D Disto. The intuitive interface guides the user through all steps of the process.

New with software version 2.0 is the surface scan option that allows measuring a grid of points fully automatically. The user can chose the grid on a vertical or horizontal surface, or even on a tilted free-defined form. All scanning data are exported in one step in standard file formats such as DXF, commonly used in the industry for drawing data exchange.

Second innovation are the drawing tools. During the as-built process, the drawing tools are required in many cases for completion of parts of the drawing e.g. for missing corners, hidden points and other features that are difficult to obtain from the current setup location.

(Heerbrugg, 27 March 2012) The range and accuracy of laser distance meters depend on light conditions and reflectivity of the measuring target. For Leica Geosystems it is important that the instruments not only perform under perfect laboratory conditions, but above all under the kind of everyday working conditions encountered on construction sites. This is why, working together with external experts, the company have developed a standard by which laser distance meters can be tested and compared with each other.

With almost 200 years experience, Leica Geosystems is the pioneer in the development and production of modern measuring technology and inventor of the hand-held laser distance meter. As the leading company in the market, Leica Geosystems has committed itself to making measuring instruments with praxis-oriented specifications, so that when they are used on site, they always do what it says on the box. As far as accuracy and range are concerned, this actually means that the specified performances are met under practical working conditions and not just under those perfectly prepared in the laboratory.

Differing factors, such as the structure of the surface and the color of the measuring point, the strength of ambient light and the temperature at which a measurement is taken, have a very significant effect on the accuracy and the maximum range achieved. These factors have not previously been defined by a standard, each manufacturer has used its own definition. It has therefore become increasingly difficult for the customer to make a comparison between the large and growing number of laser distance meters on the market. However, misunderstandings or imprecise data can result in serious unreliability of measurements or even expensive errors.

The new ISO Standard 16331-1, to which Leica Geosystems has made a significant contribution, defines in detail how information concerning accuracy and range must be presented and describes the necessary measuring procedures. This renders specifications of laser distance meters capable of being tested by independent institutions, thus making direct comparisons possible.

The ISO Standard 16331-1 takes the following measuring conditions into account:

Measurement under favorable conditions – conditions which often apply for interior use:-
– Weak ambient light (3 klux)
– Measuring to white painted wall
– Room temperature

Measurement under unfavorable conditions – conditions which often apply for exterior use:
– Bright sunshine (30 klux)
– Measuring to white painted wall
– Total operating temperature range

Other measuring conditions can also be specified, for example:
– Measuring to a defined target plate
– Measuring to unfavorable measuring points with strong or weak reflectivity (metal surface or wet concrete)

A customer who purchases a laser distance meter which conforms to the ISO standard can arrive at reliable conclusions with respect to the maximum range and accuracy achievable under defined measuring conditions. This is crucial for assessing the advantages for everyday use on the construction site.
