Leica Wins Red Dot Award 2013

(Heerbrugg, 3 May 2013) The laser distance meters Leica DISTO™ D210 and X310 as well as the Leica Rugby 840 rotating laser, were awarded the internationally recognized red dot award 2013. Here, creativity and innovation together with the high quality of design played a prominent role. The three products were selected from 4662 contenders in 19 different categories.

The red dot award is one of the biggest internationally recognized design competitions. Only the very best receive this coveted award. We are delighted that the Leica DISTO™ D210, X310 and the Leica Rugby 840 are being exhibited in the red dot design museum and showed in the yearbook. The latter is regarded as the international reference work for design excellence. In addition all three products from Leica Geosystems are found on the red dot online portal, which is regarded as one of the most important design research instruments for business, the media, and architecture. The red dot award is also a seal of quality which enjoys an extremely high level of awareness.

Leica DISTO™ D210 – The compact entry-level model
The Leica DISTO™ D210 is a handy and functional laser distance meter which makes measuring easy, fast and reliable. Developed in Switzerland and produced in Europe – it meets the highest demands on quality and achieves a measurement accuracy of ± 1.0 mm according to ISO 16331-1. It impresses with its compactness and ergonomic operating controls. Through the clever integration of soft-touch plastics into the design, the instrument sits securely in the hand and is excellently protected to withstand day to day working conditions on construction sites.

Leica DISTO™ X310 – The extremely tough and multi-functional laser distance meter
The Leica DISTO™ X310 exhibits an extremely high functionality such as e.g. a tilt sensor for indirect measurement of distances and heights. As a result of its ingenious design features it is the only laser distance meter which in spite of its performance range, is dust-tight and protected against water jets to IP65. In addition it has been drop tested from heights of up to 2 m. The Leica DISTO™ X310 guarantees reliable measurements even under the harshest conditions.

Leica Rugby 840 – The toughest and most versatile construction laser
The Leica Rugby 840 promises the highest efficiency and reliability. It is the toughest and most hard-wearing construction laser ever; and the only one designed to military standard MIL-STD 810G and which conforms to protection class IP68. This means there is never any downtime, makes the laser unbreakable and ensure exact results even under the most adverse site conditions.
Thanks to the smart targeting and smart lock functions, mistakes and rework are a thing of the past as jobs can be performed simply and reliably at the touch of a button.
